Peace Talk (Print 36"x24")
Across decades, a conversation unfolds. "Peace Talk." is not just an artwork, it's a living dialogue – a testament to the artist's relentless pursuit of harmony amidst ongoing conflict. Born of the conflict, this piece pulsates with memories and prayers. The artist began forging the work in June 1989, shaped by an unwavering hope through tumultuous years, and the work finally completed in October 1991.
The work itself defies easy categorization. Is it a painting? A sculpture? A tapestry woven from the threads of time and turmoil? Perhaps it's all of these and more. The artist embraces ambiguity, inviting viewers to step into the conversation, to become participants in the quest for understanding. We are drawn in by the swirling forms, the cryptic symbols, the muted yet vibrant palette that echoes the dusty plains and turbulent skies of the region. Each brushstroke, each crack in the surface, speaks volumes about the human cost of conflict, the yearning for solace, the constant negotiation between despair and defiance.
